Individual developments rarely have leverage over a city’s planning. In the past, they were designed to maximise the footprint, and squeeze value from every square metre. But this resulted in many missed opportunities in making cities live, work and play better.

When stepping into the TRX district, there is a distinct sense of space that expands before you. Right in the middle of the city, wide green open space leads you through the development and connects the public retail space to the office towers and into the residential quarter.

When it comes to the infrastructure, or hardware, of cities of the future, there are two basic building blocks that feature strongly: sustainability and technology. Both are closely intertwined. Unless one were to build a city from the ground up, many times these key building blocks are difficult to add on later. When done as an afterthought, you are rarely able to truly maximise its benefits.
